Situated on a popular park in a post-war community of bungalows, the original house had an ideal location but limited space for a growing family. An additional bedroom and increased living space were program requirements for the new plan.
The property is extra deep for the area, which created an opportunity to expand the house while still allowing for ample outdoor space. An addition was carefully planned to tie in with the existing floor plan including a new primary suite, family room, office, laundry, and storage rooms. The new footprint embraces a courtyard that transitions into the backyard. The expanded house was re-sided with a distinct color scheme adding variety to the streetscape. The interiors of both the addition and the renovated space embrace modern sensibilities while remaining respectful to the original details of the house.
