Our team of architects and designers is led by Jeffrey Smith, AIA and Mitch Hoyt, Assoc AIA. Their shared focus is to bring together people, ideas, and resources to have a positive impact on the built environment.

Since founding the studio in 2009, Jeffrey’s multi-disciplinary experience has been a catalyst for the studio’s expanding body of work. His ability to align architecture, interiors, branding, and development is credited as a key factor in the success of several high-profile adaptive reuse and commercial projects. Mentorship is at the core of his approach to practice with an affinity for knowledge sharing and learning something new every day. Jeffrey’s approach to design can be described as “purposeful with personality”; thoughtfully balancing the operational needs with aesthetic qualities.

Mitch joined the studio in 2012, contributing technical expertise that has been instrumental in its growth. He brings a comprehensive approach to project management, carefully coordinating the design intent with the detailing of materials and systems. With experience ranging from master planning to millwork, he is well versed in the macro to micro scales of design. Mitch champions the craftsmanship of a project from how it is communicated to how it is constructed.

Joinery values its people and relationships. Our team works together in an open environment that embraces great ideas from whoever they may come. We work closely with like-minded professionals and craftspeople ranging from engineers to artists.

We engage in projects with hospitality and craft beverage entrepreneurs, visionary real estate developers, discerning homeowners, innovative start-ups, and non-profit organizations. We are our clients greatest advocate, many with whom we have completed multiple commissions.
