Based in Philadelphia, Meridian Bank looked to expand its footprint into Florida, choosing Bonita Springs as the location for its first investment center in the state. While having a strong existing brand identity, the directive was to evolve and adapt it to this new market. Working closely with the bank, three primary characteristics were identified that the new space should embody: clarity, confident, and contextual. Clarity is achieved through a spatial sequence that is easy for clients to navigate and that emphasizes openness and transparency. Confidence is portrayed through an organized composition, good proportions, and an edited aesthetic. Context is considered through a light and airy coastal feel, putting clients at ease. These characteristics are paired with a touch of inspiration from Florida mid-century modernism and colors from the bank’s existing branding.
In the main hall, aligned grids of terrazzo at the floor and slatted white oak at the ceiling lead to a navy-blue textured wall featuring the bank’s logo. Freestanding custom teller stations of white oak and quartz reinforce the openness of the space while projecting stability. Local artists were commissioned to create custom dimensional pieces for the lobby and conference room to further enhance the dynamics of the space and its connection to the surrounding community.
