A Resilient Solution

A manufacturer of a hi-tech, patented fiberglass structure and wall system desired to showcase their application through the construction of this prototype house.  Having successfully worked with them on their new headquarters and production facility, we learned about their proprietary system and were charged with developing the architecture of the first house to incorporate it.  The site is an infill property on the North end of the city, a short distance from the beach.  The inherent resilience of the fiberglass materials provides a significant improvement in fire, wind, and moisture resistance in this intensive heat and hurricane-prone environment.  Additionally, these pre-engineered and prefabricated components are cost effective due to their light weight and modularity which reduces the length of construction time.

The completed house has generated great interest throughout this tropical region and was recognized with a Mark Samuelian Award in Urban Resilience for its residents-first approach in communities facing natural and climate hazards.  With the success of this project, an additional house was planned by our same team for a neighboring property which is currently under construction.  The innovative design and engineering of these houses are equally suited to the challenging climate as well as contemporary lifestyles.  The owners will enjoy a comfortable living environment along with additional peace of mind in their investment.
