Stay a While Longer

The Kimpton Schofield Hotel is a boutique property providing guests with a unique spin on local culture and history. Its success has led to a demand for additional room types and meeting space. A plan to convert a floor of existing apartments to hotel use was developed. The new space includes guest suites that accommodate larger and extended stay groups and individuals.

Named after the building’s original architect, Levi Schofield, the hotel’s expansion provides an opportunity to tell new chapters in his story. Levi was a founding member of the Ark Club, a local natural history society from the early twentieth century. The material palette of the existing hotel and story of the Ark Club serve as inspiration for natural finishes such as oak flooring, walnut furnishings, and earthy tones including terra cotta that references back to the building’s façade. Touches of sky and slate blue are layered in providing contrast and additional textures. The studio custom-designed a collection of furniture with nods to different eras of the building’s long history. Each suite provides a dedicated area for work. Two new conference rooms provide options for group work session and meetings. Tribute is played to the rich musical culture of the city in the artwork and accessories such as the curated album collection. By expanding and telling more of the Schofield story, the hotel is now positioned to offer guests a variety of ways to stay and work.
